I am a professor emeritus with the College of Agricultural and Life Sciences, University of Wisconsin–Madison, where I worked for 38 years. I began writing professionally in 1966, and have been writing full-time since 1994. I have published seven novels (all with the University of Wisconsin Press), two children’s picture books, two young reader books, and about 40 nonfiction books (the most recent ones from the Wisconsin Historical Society Press). My books feature Midwestern rural history and country living.

I have also done five, hour-long documentaries for Wisconsin Public Television, each documentary based on one of my books. Go to www.jerryapps.com for more information.
